New Corporate Image

Browns Distribution would like to start the June E-News by letting you know about our new Corporate Image. Over recent months we have been working with local companies to establish a corporate image across the entire company.
Our Directors were tasked with the challenge of “Brand Recognition” This challenge would see changes in all of the companies departments, buildings and fleet livery.
Months on, we have now finished the task. Our up to date logo can be seen on our entire fleet of vehicles, all of the company’s buildings and on our corporate uniforms.
We would like to thank the local suppliers who helped with this as it was a highly challenging job.
New Vehicles

As part of Browns Distributions vehicle replacement programme we are currently trialling New Demo Vehicles. On our local fleet we have added a four wheeled rigid vehicle. This has been supplied by BMC. The 18 Tonne 4x 2 Rigid Vehicle is ideal for city deliveries.
With a tuck-under tail-lift, great in cab visibility and a Euro 4 engine this vehicle is ideal for busy city deliveries.
Our general haulage fleet is also benefiting from the vehicle replacement programme. The new DAF XF105 will soon be trialled in our fleet. The test will encompass long distance driving against fuel efficiency and driver comfort. The six-cylinder, 12.9 litre engine combines excellent performance with economical fuel consumption.

Browns Distribution Services Ltd currently use MAN Trucks to tackle the long distance driving. It is a new tactic by the company to demo DAF, with fuel prices been so high new engines by new manufactures could lead to reductions in fuel costs.
Boston Hand Held Scanners
Palletline has announced another industry first with the introduction of an innovative combined scanning and image capture technology at its three hubs and all depots.
This £500,000 investment underlines our commitment to the continual innovation and use of ground breaking technology to drive speed and efficiency throughout the network.
The bespoke equipment represents a new era for the Pallet Network Industry and injects added efficiency to operational processes. The new hand held equipment speeds up scanning and quality control procedures within the Hub as well as increasing freight visibility and contributing towards automating exception and claims handling.
The Palletline IT team worked alongside a number of potential suppliers to identify leading edge technology which met our requirement for scanning and discrepancy photography using one hand held unit. However with no other network achieving this level of integration, the combined technology did not exist in the market.
Undeterred, Palletline IT commissioned UK technology partner, Belgravium, to create a bespoke unit combining the best technology available. The result is a hand held unit capable of long range scanning and image capture, enabling any discrepancies to be annotated and uploaded to our central system in seconds. |

The resultant time savings are dramatic. Using the new equipment, scanning time per vehicle is now less than 3 minutes, including reporting of any discrepancies. This improves the overall efficiency and focus on quality control at our Hubs and depots.
Palletline - Raising the Bar for Pallet Networks

Proof that we at Palletline continue to 'drive palletised distribution', as our livery claims - at this year's Motor Transport Awards, the industry Oscars, we have been selected as finalists in no fewer than three categories.
Driving innovation, our recent implementation of advanced scanning, digital signature capture and 'virtual hub' systems has won us recognition in the 'Best Use of Technology' category.
Commitment to safety - demonstrated by our introduction of industry-leading safety standards at our new hub - has earned us a much valued finalists spot in the 'Safety' category.
Last but not least, introduction of a contemporary new livery featuring our strapline 'the people driving palletised distribution' further underlines our dedication to strengthening our position at the forefront of the palletised distribution industry.
Fingers crossed for 1st July at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London, where the eventual winners will be announced!
