Browns Distribution Services would like to take time and introduce our new eNews Letter.

We feel that our customers deserve to know about the latest company investments, changes and decisions that Browns Distribution are committing to at every stage of the business environment.

At Browns we feel very optimistic about The Times to Come. In this first eNews we will be informing you of the latest developments undergoing at Browns and at Palletline.
We would also like to encourage any feedback from our clients, not just with regards to the eNews but the entire operation overview in mind.

At the footer of every eNews we will give you the option to eMail our department. This may be any questions for us, to give feedback or even to express new and exciting ideas that you feel we could take on board.

Palletline and Browns Invest

In a move placing the organisation at the leading edge in pallet distribution sector, in terms of innovation quality and operational efficiency, Palletline has successfully moved their operation to the new 15 acre site to The NEC.

The unique operational systems for the new hub have been designed to enable palletline to function more efficiently than any other pallet distribution network in the country, the systems and capacity are able to process in excess of 25,000 pallets in each 24 hour time window.

Palletline's new hub is the industry’s very first drive-through, side loaded operation achieving total depedestrianisation. This effectively revolutionises the operational model to deliver unparalled levels of quality, performance and safety coupled with technological advancements to meet developing customer expectations.

Key to the operational improvements is the construction of the industry’s first purpose built, on site quality control centre. This consists of vehicle scanning lanes capable of processing 80 vehicles an hour and an undercover area for load checking. This system effectively separates out quality from sortation activities and allows implementation of the most rigorous freight checking procedures to achieve total traceability and service consistency.

Palletline is already a recognised leader in the field with an established reputation for a high service offering. The last 12 months have seen the company take significant steps forward as the first pallet network to achieve quality accreditation to ISO 9001 and accreditation to occupational health and safety management systems OHSAS 18001:2007. redesigning the operational model to optimise quality and safety ensures Palletline will meet and exceed proposed changes in health and safety requirements, taking the lead again and safeguarding the supply chain.

Browns strengthen operations

As part of the ongoing development of the Palletline operation, Browns Distribution Services Ltd are pleased to announce that a new Lawrence David Double Deck SuperCube Trailer has been added to our Fleet.

This addition is part of the ongoing restructuring of the Company.

Browns Distribution are pleased to announce that they have launched a new service, Palletonline.co.uk. Palletonline is a one stop point for people requiring reliable pallet distribution and do not wish to open a credit account with us. This new and exciting service is aimed at existing customers as well as the general public who need a road haulier. With the launch of palletonline.co.uk comes additional marketing and advertising. We have decided to do this with Signal 1. From week commencing Monday 24th November Palletonline.co.uk and Browns Distribution will be heard on Signal 1. Please visit our New web site at www.palletonline.co.uk. Any feedback would be great!

Browns Invest in the workforce

Over recent months, Browns office staff have been completing an NVQ in Customer Service. With half of the office completed successfully and the rest coming to the finish over the next couple of weeks, we would like to congratulate them. We hope the additional skills and attributes learnt will be passed onto our customers and in turn service levels increase.

Due to the great success of the office Staff NVQ we have now decided to roll the course out on our 9 local drivers. This has recently started and should carry just over Christmas. The Drivers NVQ course entails great beneficial units including safe and aware driving, adverse weather conditions, looking after their freight (our customers goods).

The NVQ courses that Browns are pursuing are a great way to further improve our services that we provide to you. We hope the benefits are immediately noticeable.

The Sentinel Business Awards

Browns Distribution has a history of being an award winning Pallet Distribution Haulier. Over recent years Browns have been awarded with a number of industry recognised awards, the most recent was the Motor Transport Awards 2008 when we were short listed in the category “Best use of Technology”. We were runners up along with Royal Mail, Howard Tennons Associates and Multi Link. Unfortunately we fell short of success. Royal Mail did win the final award. However, an achievement was gained to have been short listed next to Royal Mail.

The criteria for this award is for the company that has shown outstanding concern for the environment and which has taken steps to introduce improvements which protect and enhance the quality of life. Improvements may include actions to reduce emissions, waste or noise, to make more efficient use of raw materials, transport and energy, to assist with land mediation and therefore reduce the impact of the business activities on neighbours. We will let you know how we get on.
